Quiz night first for Acorn Centre
More than 100 people took part in the Acorn Centre’s first ever quiz night in March when 22 teams battled it out to be crowned the winners while raising money for charity.
Quiz master Martin Kimberley put the teams through their paces by asking taxing questions on subjects including the arts, sports and general knowledge. One team proved their brain power was mightier than the rest though as Red Lorry, Yellow Lorry came a clear first to win the prize and the ultimate glory.
Teams enjoyed a fish and chip supper, supplied by The Fishing Net, midway through the evening before their brains were tested again.
A fun raffle also helped to raise more funds for the charity – and gave a bundle of treats out to the quizzers who had supported the evening. Among the prizes were chocolate hampers, beauty gifts and a trip on the Hargreaves Narrowboat.
Chairman of Trustees Natalie Parsons said: "It was a fantastic evening and thank you so much to everyone who supported the Centre and took part in the quiz. It was definitely a popular night as we sold out of tickets and still had people wanting to book teams. We will definitely look to hold another quiz like this one."
