Volunteers needed to help Centre open more
During Volunteers Week (1-7 June) Warwickshire charity The Acorn Centre is looking for more volunteers so the charity can offer more counselling hours to men and women in the local area.
The Centre, which has been offering a specialist pregnancy-related counselling service in Nuneaton since 1995, is searching for more people to join its reception team as well as fully qualified counsellors who want to support local people.
The Centre offers counselling for women and men who are coping with issues including fertility, baby loss, unexpected pregnancy, pre and post abortion and postnatal depression. To ensure more women and men can access their services, the Centre would like to start opening on more days, including Saturdays, and later in the evenings to make sessions more accessible to working people.
Chairman of The Acorn Centre’s Trustees Natalie Parsons said:
“There is a demand for our counselling services at hours that are outside of the standard working hours. Friday evening is one of our most popular counselling times and we really want to be able to offer more evening appointments and to open on a Saturday morning too.”
To open the Centre, receptionists and administrators are needed to help with the running of the office while the counsellors are in sessions.
“We would love to hear from people who want to do some voluntary work every week that makes a real difference to people’s lives. If you think you or someone you know can offer a few hours during the week, evenings or on a Saturday we would love to hear from you. We are also keen to hear from any fully qualified counsellors who can also offer some of their time to support men and women in the local area too.”

Please note, all fully-qualified counsellors must attend supervision consistent with BACP guidelines.
